Her are some upcoming events in April around the Bay Area and in Sacramento that are definitely worth checking out and supporting. If any of you know of any other events/fundraisers please post up the recommendations on the comments section.
Saturday April 14th is the "Hookers Ball," sponsored by the Harvey Milk Democratic Club, to benefit the Erotic Services Providers Union. Here's a picture of the flyer for the event. The ESPU is a great organization which seeks to gain rights for sex workers through associating with organized labor and change legislation through methods of direct action to stop the discrimination of sex workers. Last year Slutwalk had an amazing speaker form the ESPU come and talk about her job to the crowd. Saturday April 28th, SFWAR (San Francisco Women Against Rape) is having it's annual walk against Rape. This is the the 7th year for the walk. Registration and Line starts at 10am. The line begins at the Women's Building and the walk will begin at 11am. SF WAR has done great work around the Bay Area and each year host a walk to raise awareness on rape, rape culture, and violence towards women. Saturday April 28th is also the "Unite Against the War on Women," in Sacramento. We will meet on the capitol steps at 11 am and there will be an afternoon rally at Fremont Park on 16th and P Streets. This is in response to the state and governments attacks on women's reproductive rights, birth control, abortion, and many states plans to cut funding's for Planned Parenthood.
